The National Center for Middle East Studies conducted a survey on citizens’ opinions regarding participation in the upcoming presidential elections. It was conducted by phone between December 1 and 6, 2023, on a simple random sample of Egyptian society, consisting of 1,000 individuals, distributed among urban and rural areas in 23 governorates.
The most prominent results of the survey were as follows:
- 62.9% of citizens will participate and cast their electoral votes in the upcoming presidential elections, and the main reason for this is their view that it is their right (33.2%) and that their vote is trustworthy (26.6%).
- 76.9% of citizens know the presidential candidates, and (55%) of them know that there are 4 candidates.
- 76.3% of the respondents are not familiar with the electoral programs of any of the candidates.
- 98.2% of those who will participate in the presidential elections have decided to choose the presidential candidate “AbdelFattah ElSisi” as President of the Republic.
- 58.4% of the respondents were satisfied with the president’s performance in the previous 6 years, and the main reason for their satisfaction (67.8%) was that he maintained the stability, security, and safety of the country.
- 57.3% of the respondents expect the next president to improve the economic situation, preserve the country (36.2%), and care for the poor (33.1%).
