Possible scenarios: The Pakistani Taliban escalates its terrorist operations

24/12/2023

Pakistan is witnessing an increase in terrorist operations carried out by the “Pakistani Taliban” movement, coinciding with the impending Pakistani general elections scheduled to be held in early February, which indicates a number of implications and consequences that may result from this terrorist escalation within the Pakistani provinces, especially those adjacent to the border with Afghanistan.

The “Pakistan Jihad” faction, affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban, which emerged on the Pakistani scene in March of this year, claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on December 12, 2023, targeting a military base in the “Dera Ismail Khan” area in the “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” province, northwest of Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of approximately 23 Pakistani soldiers.
