Initial Look: Turkey’s Political Parties Map in Light of the 2024 Local Elections

Turkey is witnessing remarkable momentum regarding the local elections scheduled to be held on March 31, 2024, as the local elections represent an obsession for the ruling Justice and Development Party, so as not to repeat the scenario of the 2019 elections, in which the opposition parties achieved remarkable success after winning a large number of seats within main cities, such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.

In this context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Justice and Development Party intensified their movements during the recent period, as they held consultative sessions with a number of party leaders, in addition to the way they select and announce the party’s candidates.
