The current increase in ISIS activities in Iraq and Syria has brought about yet another change in the Middle East, in light of a tangible tendency by the terrorist organization to escalate its attacks, which coincides with the ongoing armed conflicts in the region, especially the Israeli war in Gaza. In the second week of January 2024, ISIS claimed responsibility for more than 51 terrorist operations in the Middle East, which reveals many implications.

By comparing the number of terrorist operations claimed by ISIS during the first half of January 2024 and the same period during the past three years, it could be noted that ISIS claimed responsibility for a greater number of terrorist operations in the first half of January 2024 than those it claimed during the past three years, as during the first half of January 2024, approximately 116 operations were adopted by the terrorist group in various regions.
