The upcoming Tunisian presidential elections

26/01/2024

Tunisia is expected to be on the verge of an increasing robust political movement amid the upcoming presidential elections this year, which will determine whether or not the democratic path can be preserved in a region increasingly threatened by political and security instability, besides the current economic crisis in the country and growing doubts about the identity of the next president, and whether or not President Kais Saied will run for the presidential elections.

A number of Tunisian opposition groups, regardless of their political weight or orientations, have been actively organizing their ranks and formulating their visions regarding potential electoral confrontations in the upcoming presidential elections, particularly if President Saied decides to run as an independent candidate, in which case they anticipate a fierce challenge from him, and hence the opposition is searching for a way to propose a qualified consensus candidate to preserve its electoral destiny.
