The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) criticized the allegations promoted by Israel in order to stop the agency’s work. The latter considered that withdrawing funds from it would lead to the collapse of the deteriorating humanitarian system in Gaza. Following the Israeli targeting, the agency gained international attention, particularly because it is regarded as the primary provider of assistance to millions of Palestinians since its founding in December 1949.
Additionally, Israel has made every effort to suspend UNRWA’s work through its evident incitement against the agency recently. This highlights the Israeli pressures placed on humanitarian agencies to advance their own agendas, even when doing so goes against humanitarian law and places additional burdens on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
