The 33rd Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Summit Level opened in Bahrain’s capital, Manama on May 16. This summit is the first to be held in Bahrain, and it comes in light of the rapid developments and exceptional circumstances the region is witnessing.
The declaration of the summit reflected the centrality of the Palestinian cause in any desired equation for stability in the region, as it was mentioned directly more than once in the declaration. It generally included a call to end the war, end the suffering of the Palestinians, “categorically reject” any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinians, and adopt feasible steps for a just and comprehensive peaceful settlement of the Palestinian cause, based on implementing the two-state solution in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
