The death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers and officials raised serious questions about the future of Iranian internal conditions and foreign policy, especially since Tehran is a major regional power and influential in a number of issues that receive widespread regional and international attention.
The death of Raisi represented a major shock within Iran at both the official and popular levels. However, there were no fears regarding the state of internal stability, mainly because Raisi’s death would not lead to a power vacuum in Iran, due to the complicated political and regulatory nature of the regime, which makes state institutions there resistant to shocks.
