Terrorists and violent extremists use of Artificial Intelligence

29/05/2024

Amaq News Agency – a media platform affiliated with ISIS – published a 92-second broadcast days after the Moscow concert hall attack, showing a news anchor wearing a military uniform celebrating the attack and indicating that it is part of the raging war between the terrorist organization and “countries fighting Islam.” Several sources, including “The Washington Post,” confirmed that the news anchor was “fake” and was created by AI through a program called “News Harvest.”

This coincides with the report published on May 1 by the International Center for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), entitled “The Radicalization (and Counter-radicalization) Potential of Artificial Intelligence.” The report discussed the areas of terrorist employment of modern technologies based on artificial intelligence, as well as the adverse consequences of artificial intelligence on the war against terrorism.
