The National Center for Middle East Studies conducted a survey showing citizens’ opinions regarding the current economic conditions of the Egyptian citizen, and its impact on confidence in state institutions. The survey was conducted using telephone from 20 February 20 to 1 March 2024, on a simple random probability sample representative of Egyptian society, consisting of 1,000 people, distributed among urban and rural areas in 27 governorates across the republic.
The most prominent results of the survey were as follows:
- 97.8% of citizens believe that there is a current economic crisis in Egypt.
- 86% of citizens believe that their current incomes are insufficient to meet their financial needs.
- 71.6% of respondents have heard of the recent salary increase, which was approved by the President in the celebration of the 72nd Anniversary of Police Day on 25 Jan 2024.
- 53.2% of citizens are satisfied with the state’s efforts to provide security and safety, and 44.5% of citizens are satisfied with the state’s efforts in digital transformation.
