The participants in the national dialogue, which was held in Ouagadougou on May 25, adopted a new charter to extend the transitional regime led by Captain Ibrahim Traore for an additional five years, which will provide an opportunity for the ruling authority to better address the current security and terrorist threats that are affecting the whole Sahel region.
This comes in light of the continued escalation of terrorist threats facing Burkina Faso, as according to the Global Terrorism Index 2024, Burkina Faso has become the country most affected by terrorism in the world, as a quarter of the total deaths resulting from terrorism last year have been recorded in Burkina Faso.
