Hezbollah launched an extensive attack on Israel, firing approximately 320 Katyusha missiles at 11 Israeli targets as part of their initial retaliatory response to Israel’s assassination of Fouad Shukr. The targets included various military bases, barracks, military intelligence offices, the Israel Security Agency “Shabak”, and Unit 8200. The attack received support from resistance factions, as Hamas praised the assault as a “slap” to Israel, while the Houthis described it as a “large and courageous” response, signaling that further retaliation from Yemen could follow.
The current geopolitical situation and regional instability could only be resolved by halting Israeli aggression on Gaza and reaching a ceasefire agreement. Resistance factions have expressed their commitment to such a ceasefire if agreed upon. The only apparent beneficiary of the unwarranted escalation seems to be Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who appears to seek regional conflict to maintain his political position, posing a significant threat to the region’s present and future.
